LUMBERJVCK and Le Castle Vania could not be better suited to collaborate with each other. Both have built their reputations on taking electronic music into harder and heavier territories. By working together, they seem to have dared each other to go even further down this road.
The ‘You Know My Name’ EP takes a punk rock attitude towards bass music. It delivers emotional melodies, crashing beats, rumbling basslines and tearing synths that leave you ultimately breathless. These tracks are designed to get a crowd hyped and keep them energetic and on their toes.
The sneering vocal and bass sounds of ‘You Know My Name’ are first out of the gate. Then, the funky bending bass and synths of this mid-tempo banger, ‘Numba One’ plants a fist firmly into your solar plexus. ‘Ham Sandwich’ increases the tempo and the funk further, inserting electro vibes as well as a touch of old-school hip-hop swagger into the mix. Finally, LA-based singer/songwriter Mariana Bell delivers a haunting vocal on the anthemic trapstep of closer ‘Carry On’ that lifts the whole release to even greater heights.
Uncompromising, energetic and alarming at times, this release ensures that anyone unfamiliar with Le Castle Vania and LUMBERJVCK before, will certainly KNOW THEIR NAMES after this.
MNYNMS (pronounced “Many Names”) formed in late 2014 and has turned 2015 into their breakout year. The Houston based electronic duo, Jessica Wahlquist and Jacob Childs, have released a handful of notable remixes and remakes this year, and the two are following up with another hit again on July 28th with their brand new remix of Purity Ring’s beloved track “Belispeak”
If you thought you loved “Belispeak” as an original, just wait until MNYNMS shows you what they’ve got up their sleeve. Driven by fluid synths and organic artistry, the duo delivers a finely crafted remix that gives Purity Ring a run for their money. Demonstrating a confidence across the spectrum of genres, MNYNMS has constructed an impressive remix of electronic productions, gripping synth work, and dynamic vocal edits. Your support would be greatly appreciated as MNYNMS builds momentum for an even bigger second half of the year.
